What is eSIM?

It’s a digital SIM built into your phone.

Think of it this way: a physical SIM is a tiny card. An eSIM does the same job, but you install it right from the screen.

On a recent iPhone

Press and hold the QR code to start installation

When your QR code arrives by email or opens in your browser, do this:

STEP 01

Press and hold the QR code

Keep your finger on the image for a few seconds.

STEP 02

Tap “Add eSIM”

Your iPhone opens the installation screen.

STEP 03

Follow the on-screen prompts

Confirm the prompts. Your eSIM will be saved on your phone.

Done. No SIM tray to open.Then choose the eSIM for mobile data as instructed.

iPhone and Android

The result is the same. The way you start installation may differ.

iPhone

On iOS 17.4 or later, press and hold the QR code in your default email app or browser. Then tap “Add eSIM”.

Open Settings and search for “Add eSIM” or “Set up eSIM”. Menu names vary by phone brand and Android version.

Before installing

Connect your phone to Wi-Fi. Your device must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

Internet for your trip

Choose your destination and receive your QR code

Select the country, choose a plan, and pay. Your QR code arrives by email, ready to install.

The long-press option depends on your phone, operating system version, and the app used to open the image. If it does not appear, use the camera or open “Add eSIM” in Settings.
